About the Computer Centre
The G.H.Patel Computer Centre of Sardar Patel University is the central hub that renders computing as well as networking facilities to the entire University. UGC New Delhi upgraded G.H. Patel Computer Center to ‘C-Level’ (Sanction Letter No. F.17-13/81(SR-II/T) dated 4th July 1984) in the year 1984. The Computer Centre Center is involved activities related to Software Development, Information Technology, Computer Infrastructure and Communication, Training, Maintenance, etc. as per the UGC Guidelines. The Computer Centre is playing a key role in providing state-of-the-art IT facilities to the entire University since its inception. The building of the computer centre is located opposite to the University Administrative office. The building is named after the great philanthropist Late Shri Gordhanbhai Hathibhai Patel who generously donated for the construction of the building. The computer centre is proactively working with fast changing technology in software and hardware. The centre established the campus-wide computer networking using a fibre optic backbone having a capacity of 1GB in the year 2005. The centre works keeping in mind the objective of the UGC “Computer Centre is a central facility to provide hardware and software solutions for the growth and development of teaching, research and other related activities”. Computer Center, as a service centre provides services in different areas like Computerization of Administrative activities, Academic Activities, Networking, Internet , Troubleshooting and maintenance of Computers and peripherals, etc.
