Departmental Achievements
The department received grants from several agencies which benefited the development of the department. These are as follows:
- The department was identified as Special Assistance Programme (SAP) . The first phase (DRS-I ) was from 2010-2015. The department received Rs.75.00 lacs. The Department has progressed with SAP-DRS-II, for this, it received Rs.80.00 lacs under DRS-II in the year 2015 for five years (2016-2021).
- The department received Rs. 20.00 lacs as infrastructure grant under SAP DRS-I during 2010-2015.
- The department received Rs.20.00 lacs under NON SAP infrastructure grant in 2008-09 and 2009-2010. It also received four meritorious student fellowships.
- The department received Rs.58.00 lacs under the UGC-Innovative Program to start a P.G. Diploma in Nutrigenomics in the year 2009 for a period of five years (2010-2015).
- The department received Rs.39.50 lacs from the Government of Gujarat- Innovative Program to start Diploma in Food Designing and Quality Assurance in the year 2009.
- DBT, New Delhi awarded Rs. 49.50 lacs grant to start Masters programme in the field of Food Biotechnology in 1998.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF TEACHERS:
- Viraj Roghelia and Dr. V. H. Patel were awarded the first prize ‘Sardar Patel Research Award’ for the research paper entitled “Evaluation of organically and conventionally grown vegetables for nutrients, antioxidants and pesticide residues ” at Sardar Patel University in December, 2021.
- Viraj Roghelia and Dr. V. H. Patel were awarded the first prize ‘Sardar Patel Research Award’ for the research paper entitled “Dietary habits and meal pattern of people residing in Anand district during COVID-19 lockdown” at Sardar Patel University in December, 2020.
- Pratiksha Patel and Dr. V. H. Patel were awarded the first prize ‘Sardar Patel Research Award’ for the research paper entitled “Antioxidant and quality attributes of Dahi formulated using potential probiotic strain isolated from infant fecal” at Sardar Patel University in December, 2019.
- Viraj Roghelia was awarded the second prize ‘Sardar Patel Research Award’ for the research paper entitled “Effect of supplementation of prickly pear juice on the antioxidant status of young adult females” at Sardar Patel University in December, 2018.
- V. H. Patel was awarded the first prize ‘Sardar Patel Research Award’ for the research paper entitled “Use of DPPH RSA test to evaluate the lipid oxidation in cottonseed oil during frying of food product –besan sev” at Sardar Patel University in December, 2017.
- Neeta Dave was awarded ‘Hari Ohm Ashram Prerit Bhaikaka Interuniversity Smarak Trust’ for the research paper entitled “Effect of fresh wheatgrass juice on plasma antioxidant status of geriatric population” in March 2010 ( Co-authors: Sharma, M. and Patel, V.H.).
ACHIEVEMENTS OF STUDENTS IN ACADEMIC & CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Academic Achievements:
- Nidhi Parmar was awarded the first prize ‘Sardar Patel Research Award’ for the research paper entitled “Citrus Fruit Peels: From Waste to Worth” at Sardar Patel University in December, 2021.
- Vimal Jayswal was awarded the first prize ‘Sardar Patel Research Award’ for the research paper entitled “Antioxidant and Acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity of basella alba leaves” in December, 2020.
- Urvashi Mall was awarded the second prize ‘Sardar Patel Research Award’ for the research paper entitled “Evaluation of carrot pomace as a source of bioaccessible nutraceutical” in December, 2020.
- Tanvi Makwana was awarded the first prize ‘Sardar Patel Research Award’ for the research paper entitled “Antioxidants and Type-II diabetes relevant enzyme inhibition of moth beans (Vigna aconitifolia)” in December, 2019.
- Tejashri Trivedi awarded the second prize ‘Sardar Patel Research Award’ for the research paper entitled “Impact of high protein ladoo supplementation on the nutritional status of malnourished children” in December, 2019.
- Rajeshree Karnik was awarded funding for student start up and innovation policy (2017-18).
- Hruti Kevat and Ms. Pranali Karnani were awarded funding for student start up and innovation policy (2017-18).
- Anu Mishra was awarded the first prize ‘Sardar Patel Research Award’ for the research paper entitled “Evaluation of alpha amylase, alpha glucosidase and protein glycation inhibitory activities of different elements of mango (mangifera indica)” at Sardar Patel University in December, 2017 (Co-author: V.H. Patel).
- Nabeel Pandya, Ms. Nidhi Patel and Dr. Pratiksha Patel won first prize in oral presentation on “Formulation of symbiotic yogurt using green tea and coffee extracts” at “ANVESHAN”- Student research convention on 30th December, 2015.
- 03 Students of the department have cleared UGC_NET examination,08 students have cleared GSET examination and 3 students have cleared GPSC exam during 2016-21.
