Campus Report GH Patel Post Graduate Institute of Business Management (GHPIBM), Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand for the month of August, 2016
The Business Management department of the Sardar Patel organised various expert lectures under its Expert Lecture Series and Industry Academia Interface. During the month of August following activities were undertaken
On 2nd August a tree plantation programme was organised in the department to welcome arrival of Monsoon. Students and faculty members and office staff planted saplings of fruit trees.
An expert lecture on Challenges and Opportunities in Management profession was organised on August 5th 2016, to orient students of the new batch in the department to orient them to nuances of Management education in global economy. Mr. Dilip Pandaya a management consultant was the expert speaker.
A classical Management movie show was co-ordinated by Dr. K. S. Prasad, Asst. Professor, GHPIBM on August 5th on Industrial Revolution in Britain named Modern Times to ease new students in the department.
Alumni Lecture Series has been initiated in the department for the first time. Under this initiative Alumni of the department are invited for delivering expert lectures on various issues of interest and learning for the students.
Innovation and Digital World – 11th August
Mr. Jayesh Shukla, MD of reputed Accenture Germany delivered expert lecture on how Digital World is likely to unfold in future. His presentation titled ‘’Innovation and Living / working in a Digital World’’ was a complete breakthrough experience, which was out of our imagination. The virtual reality is soon to take upon this world. Meanwhile he educated us about term ‘Digital’ and it’s six aspects namely Cloud, Analytical Big Data, Connected Everything, Mobile, Social Media/ Collaboration and Data Velocity. His presentation session was really impressive along with the students’ queries. More than anything his session was informative and something really positive towards development.
‘’Yes I am the change Initiative’’ Activity by experts from Yes Bank
Yes Bank’s Managers visited on 24th August in our institute. The 2 hours session was about the Initiative led by Yes Bank to encourage youths of India. The team Mr. Birendra Singh Jala (Sr. Manager), Ms. Swetal Patel ( Manger), Mr. Nehal Patel (Manager) showed us motivating videos about the initiative and competition through the presentation ‘’ Changed Program CSR activity’’. The main objective of this initiative is to create awareness and social transformation through youth.
This initiative is focused on young students and they are supposed to shoot a video with a unique social message and compete with other participants around India. Interested students are required to register first via yesfoundation.com or form provided by bank. Many of students from our GHPIBM were thrilled and excited to be part of it. Most of them filled the form on the spot and now are looking forward towards this initiative. It was a great experience to have such highly prestigious bank in our institute.
Dr. Yogesh C. Joshi, Professor has taken charge of full time Director and Head of The department at the Institute since June 2016. Under his leadership academic activities have taken a boost with renewed vigour. Following academic activities have been organised in the institute in the month of August.

Presentation on ‘21st Century Manager’ by Mr. Sumedh Gupte – 8th September
We had Mr. Sumedh Gupte, currently the Regional Head(Maharastara) – Business Development of India’s leading Financial Daily ‘Business Standard’at our institute. His presentation titled “Expectations from the 21st Century Manager” was an informative session where we gained an insight into the level of knowledge and skills needed to be inculcated in the current century managers to be successful. He further made us understand the importance of a manager being Multi tasking, Result oriented and Multi cultural and that for any problem faced by a manager, there is no readymade solution, rather the solution is to be developed by self by updating yourself on a daily basis. His rich experience in the field of print media was enlightening for us.
‘’Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’’ by Social Club- 14th September
Social Club of GHPIBM organized a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in our campus premise. We had a cleanliness programme in our department as a part of campaign ‘’Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’’ launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi . All the faculty members and students actively participated in this event that started after 5 pm onwards. It was a successful event where we all cleaned the MBA premises. All the faculties and students were very happy to support this campaign.
Presentation on ‘Evolving International Business and Marketing’ by Mr. Mukesh Dave – 17th September
As a part of the Alumini Lecture Series, we had Mr. Mukesh Dave, Senior Manager (Exports), GCMMF(Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation) Ltd. at our institute who shared his views on an interesting topic ‘Evolving International Business & Marketing’. We learned how AMUL has been a true experience of Globalization and how GCMMF has taken up the way forward to make AMUL an international brand, further adding how AMUL brand became a nation’s sensation in the world. He explained in detail about implication of an enterprise ventures into an International Market with the various risk factors which need to be kept in mind.
He further explained evolving global strategies such as International Strategy, Localization(Multi-domestic) strategy, Export Marketing Strategy and Transnational Strategy that are to be taken seriously to stay in the market. Knowing about the various Export Marketing Strategies that should be applied by a business was something new to learn for the students. Overall the session was impressive as the students made active interaction by way of their queries.
Seminar on ‘World & Indian Economy: How Indian Economy is affected by World Economic Trends’ by Finance Club – 21st September
The Finance Club of our institute hosted a seminar on this topic and highlighted how Indian economy is affected by the world economic trends. The seminar began with our eminent faculties Mr. P K Priyan and Mr. Yogesh Joshi adding in their valuable inputs on the topic. There were five speakers from the finance club- Jignesh, Hetvi, Karan, Bijay and Pratik who took up different aspects of the topic like Contemporary issues, Global Recession’s effect on India, Impact of Devaluation of the Chinese Currency and whether India can win against China in the race of Development. The session was a commendable effort by the Club and an informative content for the audience. The seminar was followed by a quiz on Indian & World Economy and the winners of it were given prizes. Overall the event was a complete package of Learning in an interesting manner.
Seminar on ‘Professional Growth & Personal Branding through Social Media’ by Mr. Kushal Soni & Mr. Harsh Lakhotia – 23rd September
As a part of the Alumni Lecture Series, we had our two alumni – Mr. Kushal Soni and Mr. Harsh Lakhotia at our institute who conducted seminar on the topic Professional Growth & Personal Branding through Social Media. With the increased use of Social media in our personal lives, they explained how these sites can be also used for getting a professional advantage. They discussed how Linkedin and Twitter have become major platforms for recruiting people in various organizations. Blogging being an emerging interest in the current scenario, they introduced their own website – Pointsonly.com where information is available in a concise manner and majorly in the form of points. This makes it easy for the viewers to read and understand the data. It was an enlightening session, and the queries on the part of the students made it an interesting and interactive session.
Marketing Club Event– 29th September
Marketing Club held a small session enriching all the participants with marketing related global trends. The students participated in the quiz and hence was a short and sweet session.
‘’Ratri Before Navaratri’’ by Social Club– 30th September
Social club of our institute organized a ‘’Ratri Before Navaratri’’ , which was graced by our respected faculties and all the students. The event was entertaining where everybody performed GARBA and celebrated Navaratri. Such activities are encouraged to promote holistic development of students.
