Prof. Manubhai Shah has served the Department of Business Studies as a faculty, Head, Dean and Syndicate Member as well as I/C vice Chancellor of Sardar Patel University for more than 30 years. Prof. Manubhai saheb’s 100th birth year will be completed in the year 2027. In order to commemorate and acknowledge his noteworthy contribution to the Department and Sardar Patel University, his son Mr. Anil Shah has donated Rs. 5,00,000 to start late Prof. Manubhai Shah Chair at the Department of Business Studies, Sardar Patel University as a tribute to such exemplary academician.
The following activities are proposed under the said chair to honour his contribution as a student activity accelerator, illustrious researcher and able administrator:

- Research Awards:
Research Awards viz., Manubhai Shah Best PhD Thesis Award with citation and Cash Award of Rs. 2000/-, Best M.Phil. Dissertation award with citation and Cash Award of Rs. 1000/- can be given to encourage research scholars to put in best efforts for quality research.
- Faculty Best Research Paper Award:
Two Faculty Best Research Paper Award with citation and cash award of Rs. 1000/- will be given to recognize and support faculty members of exceptional academic distinction.
- Best Published Papers:
Two Best Published Papers in CARE listed journals will be given to encourage publications in recognized journal to get visibility and reach to the wider audience with meaningful research findings/outcome.
- Industrial visit:
Industrial visit of the students will be arranged to give them real life experience of organizations working.
- Soft skill development programs:
Various soft skill development programs can be offered to the students as a part of the program ‘Going beyond books, Going beyond curriculum’ to develop next generation business leaders.
- Co-curricular activities:
Various co-curricular activities like debate, elocution (Prof. Manubhai Saheb trophy), quiz, essay writing, sports, etc. can be organized on relevant themes.
- Faculty Development Program:
Seminar/Symposia/Workshops/Panel Discussion/Management Development Program/Executive Development Program etc. can be arranged on contemporary themes.
- Publications:
Publications of Book/Booklets/Journal/Proceedings can be done.
- Finance Pathshala:
In order to increase financial literacy among students of Sardar Patel University, “Finance ki Pathshala’’ program will be started and a provision of Rs. 10,000/- p.a. from the interest of the corpus of Rs. 5,00,000/- will be done.
- Research survey/studies:
Students can be encouraged to conduct research survey/studies on relevant business topics.
The committee nominated by Hon. Vice Chancellor will take care of the above mentioned activities under the Chairmanship of Prof. Sandip Bhatt of the proposed chair at the Department of Business Studies.
