Hon. Director’s Message:
The Comprehensive Scheme to Study the Cost of Cultivation of Principal Crops in Gujarat (CCS) was established in July 1971 at the Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India is providing the fund for running the Scheme. The CCS has been working as an associate department of the S. P. University. The CCS has completed about 52 glorious years. During this period, the CCS has providing each agriculture year the quality data for fixation of MSP and other purposes to the Ministry. The ‘Single Crop Approach for a year’ was implemented by the government during initial first decade for the data collection. The ‘Crop Complex Approach for the three years known as block’ was implemented by the government from the agriculture year 1981-82 for the data collection. The CCS was taken the challenge for feeding up the data for the agriculture year 2012-13 in the new online data entry software known as FARMAP 2.0 for the Government and also provided many valuable suggestions or feedback for enrich the online data entry software.
Ever since its inception, the CCS has been working in close collaboration with the AERC and P.G. Department of Economics of the University. The staff of the CCS has extended the support to the AERC for various the government projects along with the field works for Gujarat and Rajasthan state as well as providing necessary supports to the Ph. D. scholars which working in the agricultural economics.
