About The Campus
Pollution-free, clean and lush green environs greet you as you arrive in Vallabh Vidyanagar and Sardar Patel University campus. The University today spreads over a total land mass of 86 acres with a main campus and 4 satellite campuses.
The main campus, which houses the University Administrative Office with offices of all the important University Officials, all the sections of the University, Old Senate Hall and Syndicate room, besides SC/ST Cell, External Courses Cell, IQAC, International Students Centre, is spread over 21.060 acres, with a built-up are of 85,253.10 sq.mts.
Flanking the Main Administrative Office are Departments like Materials Science, and Chemistry on the one side, and Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Science and Technology (CISST), Pharmaceutical Sciences, Social Work, Business Studies, Mathematics, and Statistics on the other. Behind the Building that houses the Departments of Mathematics, Business Studies and Statistics is a four-storeyed building which houses Bhaikaka Library (University Library), and down the road from there, is the Department of Home Science, University Press, University Canteen, Animal House of the Biosciences.
The University Road divides the Main Administrative Building from the rest of the buildings opposite it that house Departments like Physics, G H Patel Computer Centre, M P Patel Auditorium, and Humanities Building, which houses Departments of English, Gujarati, Sanskrit, History, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. Behind the Humanities Building, we have the Department of Hindi in a separate building, University Museum, Complex housing Guest Houses and Guest Hostels and University Health Centre on the one side; and USIC, New Women’s Hostel on the floor above the USIC, M B Patel College of Education, University Ladies Hostel and NRI Ladies Hostel on the other.
A road divides the other part which has the Vice Chancellor’s lodge. As one turns on the road leading to the entrance of the Chemistry Department, on the other side, we have the Department of Electronics and N V Patel Postgraduate Department of Communication and Media Studies in the same row as ‘Savita’ Bungalow (the late H M Patel and his family’s residence). As one moves down that road and takes a turn to the right and down the road on the left is H M Patel Postgraduate Institute of Rural Economics, which is a three-storeyed building, housing Department of Economics, Agro-Economics Research Centre (Gujarat and Rajasthan), and Cost of Cultivation Cell.
Satellite Campus-1, which Houses the BRD School of Biosciences: a three-storeyed building, Physical Education Section of the University, Yugpurush Vivekananda (YUVI) Sports Complex, and Sardar Patel Maidan, is spread over 30.000 acres, with a built-up area of 1,21,406.00 sq.mts.
Satellite Campus-2, which houses the University Staff Colony, is spread over 28.930 acres, with a built-up area of 1,17,074.34 sq.mts. Within the University Colony, there are six Hostels: MBA NRI Hostel, Nehru Hall, CTE Hostel, SSF Hostel – single seated flat-type rooms for research scholars, BSc BEd Hostel, and Eklavya Hostel for SC/ST students; Kendriya Vidyalaya, G H Patel Institute of Business Management (MBA Department), University Cooperative Store, Flour Mill, Vallabh Sevashram, Botanical Garden (with some very rare plants and creepers), Water Tank and supply facility, besides A, B, C, H, D, E, F, G, I, J, and T-type Quarters for University Employees: Teaching, Administrative, and Class-IV Staff.
Satellite Campus-3, situated at some distance behind the University Staff Colony across a road, is a large campus, spread over 3.148 acres, with a built-up area of 12,739.50 sq.mts, which houses G H Patel Postgraduate Institute of Computer Science and Technology (Department of Computer and Technology).
Satellite Campus-4, situated at some distance, way behind the University Staff Colony, houses the Kendriya Vidyalaya Staff Quarters and adjoining land, which is spread over 2.849 acres, with a built-up area of 11,529.50 sq.mts.
