Welcome to the Department of Education, Sardar Patel University!

I firmly believe that the function of any teacher education institute is to set off the candidate on a lifelong path of learning, distinct from knowing.  Therefore responsibility of the department which shapes teacher educators for the teacher education programmes directly and for the 21st century  learners indirectly is greater than before.  Moreover, at the down of NEP 2020 and its gradual implementation phase, the department has to play a very pivotal role in bringing quality change in Education.

The Department of Education, Sardar Patel University is committed to fulfilling the demands of the day by facilitating the developing a cadre of quality teacher educators and educational administrators/managers. The department, with its vision to develop a global as well as a national vision for education in the modern concept of the 21st century, caters to the needs of the aspiring candidates by creating space to develop themselves as insightful practitioners in the field of Education. The department is capable to enrich and equip the higher education scholars with advanced pedagogical understanding, insight into Indian Knowledge System and its implications for education, research acumen and skills to handle state-of-the art technology pertinent to practice of education. Further, it seeks to prepare educational experts capable of generating knowledge by the application of scientific method of inquiry or investigation, and to develop a critical mind which can sense gaps in knowledge and find solutions to problems relating to the theory and practice of education.

Master of Education and Ph.D in Education (full time and part time ) are professional programmes offered the department and they focus on comprehensive and integrated professional development of teacher-educators and other personnel engaged in educational management and administration. The programmes are aimed at developing competency and skills so that one can share the responsibility of preparing teachers for diverse situations by strengthening their theoretical foundations of education and by conducting research.
